How Bareboat Yacht Charter Works

Bareboat Charters Whitsundays

A Bareboat Charter, is a private yacht which you will captain yourself. Don't worry at all if you have limited sailing experience, we will patiently and thoroughly go over the controls, navigation, anchoring and area with you before you leave. If you're not confident to sail on your own, then don't worry at all we can arrange a sailing guide to come along with you. He can come for the first few days or the whole trip. Usually you will have the controls of the boat mastered after a few days. We understand that you don't really want a sailing guide tagging along, so he can even just come for the day times and leave you alone each night when you come to your anchorage, then return in the morning.

Upon arrival in Airlie Beach, our sailing instructor / Briefer will go through everything with you including safety, navigation, and how everything on the boat works.

He will come with you as you leave Able Point Marina Airlie Beach. He'll possibly even come with you all the way to your first anchorage. He'll tow an inflatable speed boat behind which he'll go back home in when everyone is feeling confident and comfortable with everything.

You must phone / text our base each afternoon before 4pm and again in the morning at 8am to let us know that everything is ok, what your plans are and to ask us any questions. We're available 24hrs/day via phone if you have any questions/problems or queries at all. You will have phone reception in most places, but there is a satellite phone on board which you can call us on if you're out of reach (Note that this is strictly for calling us only as the call rates are very expensive!) Rest assured that you and the boat will be in safe hands the whole time.

All of our boats are modern, and well equipped. They've passed stringent safety standards and regular inspections, so you have nothing to worry about.
